Mrs. Marlee Parkes Stewart’s 01/02 period AP class recently used real world applications of math while outside enjoying the beautiful weather!! Students planned a family reunion by comparing the cost of food from two barbecue catering businesses. Students had to take y=mx+b and plug in values to determine the total cost (using rate of change and initial catering fees). They also had to represent the total cost on a graph. As they determined the amounts, one student exclaimed, “Dang, this is an expensive family reunion!
