Our Solar System: Jupiter

Jupiter is the 5th planet from the sun. The average distance between Jupiter and the sun is 778 million km. The average distance between Earth and Jupiter is 588 million km. Jupiter has 16 moons, or maybe more. It’s about 142,800 kilometers in diameter, dwarfing earth, and the rest of the planets. Jupiter is not a rocky planet like Earth or Mars. Jupiter is a gas planet, which means that it is not a solid at all, but instead is a giant cloud made up mostly of hydrogen and helium.
