Book Check Out and Return Policies:
When does my child check out books?
Kindergarten children visit bi-weekly for storyhour and checkouts. First grade students, as beginning readers, are requested to read their book several times. These students come to the library once a day for AR time. Students in Grades 2-5 visit the library twice a day during the two 30 minute Accelerated Reader assigned times.
How many books can my child check out?
Students are limited to checking out one book at a time.
When are books due back to the library?
Books are due one week from the day they are checked out. Books may be returned any time during the day, the earlier the better. Students may use the book drop outside the library when the library is closed.
What is Accelerated Reader (AR)?
The Accelerated Reader program is a computerized reading incentive program. Students read books on the Accelerated Reader list and then take a comprehension test on the computer. They will receive a score and points based on the difficulty of the books and questions answered correctly.
What should I do when my child loses and/or damages a book?
Students may check with the library for the price for the lost/damaged book. Check out privileges will be revoked until payment is made. Payment should be made in the library. The library will gladly refund money paid for lost books if the book is found and returned.
How do you check in a book?
Books can be returned any time within the following week but must be checked in before checking out another book. Please return the book to the book return slot only. Also, books that are lost or damaged must be paid for before another book may be checked out. Books should not be placed on the circulation desk or reshelved. All must be computer scanned. A return box is located outside the library in case the library is closed.

No fines are charged for overdue library books. Report cards/records will be held for books not returned or paid for. Book fine prices for lost or damaged books are based on the current replacement cost of that book.

Books should be treated like friends. Do not:
They will last a long time and give many people the pleasure of reading them if we take care of them today.
