March News from the Giraffe Class

Dear Parents,

    It’s hard to believe Spring is almost here.  The school year is going by so fast.  The students are learning many new math skills and pre-reading skills.  I am very proud of the accomplishments made thus far.

      I will be testing for report cards the week of March 3^rd.  Listed below is the skills that will be tested this nine weeks.  If anyone feels that they need to talk with me concerning these skills, please call the office and schedule a conference, 601-656-2182.       

    Don’t forget…

• Each child is only allowed 4 parental absences per semester.  The only absences that will be excused after this point are those accompanied with a medical excuse.   
   

• Please make an effort to have your child at school on time.  Our day begins at 8:00 a.m.  When they come in late, valuable instructional time is wasted.

The following benchmarks will be tested for the 3rd Nine Weeks:

• Recognize beginning, final, and medial sounds in spoken words

• Recognize word families

• Read at least 10 pre-primer sight words

• Interprets text by drawing a picture

• Count forward to 20 and backward from 10

• Number recognition to 20

• Ordinal numbers (first through tenth)

• Addition to 10

• Extend a pattern ABB

• Letter recognition

• Sound recognition

Any benchmarks not mastered from First and Second nine weeks will also be tested.

• Paper Towels

• Glue Sticks - 6

• Crayons - 4 packs of 8 count

• 3 ring binder - 1 inch

• Quart size Ziplock bags (GIRLS)

• Clorox Wipes (GIRLS)

• Antibacterial Soap (BOYS)

• Baby Wipes (BOYS)
