Classroom Policies

Attendance:

If your child must miss school, please send either a parental or medical excuse back to school when he or she returns explaining the absence. Remember only 4 parental excuses are allowed per semester.

Homework:

It is important that your child complete all homework assignments! Homework is to keep you informed on what skills they are learning and to reinforce those skills. Practice makes perfect!

Bus / Car Rider Notes:

If there is a change of any kind in your child's afternoon transportation, it is imperative that I receive a note with the following information: child's name, date of change, your signatue, and details of the change to be made. School policy states that I must keep your child in their transportation routine unless a note is received. You can not call and request a change! It must be made in writing!

Snacks / Water:

If you wish for your child to have a snack, they must bring one daily. Uneaten or leftover snacks will be disposed of at the end of each day. These snacks can include dry cereal, nuts, crackers, or pretzels. Please do NOT send cookies, chips, or items that may cause fingers to get messy. Snacks that need refrigeration, microwaving, or eating utensils, will not be permitted. Bottled (sports bottle, refillable bottle…) water is the ONLY beverage allowed.

Behavior:

Neshoba Central Elementary uses a school wide behavior program. When a student breaks a rule, he or she is made to pull a color from their pocket. The colors and consequences are as follows:

Reports:

As needed, I will send home a newsletter in the ROCKET binder letting you know school news of importance, as well as classroom news. I will also send home a parental contact form (including their colors). Initial this form and leave it in the ROCKET binder. Report cards will need to be signed and returned.

Materials:

New month = new glue and crayons. The children use a lot of glue and crayons. Please ask your child if they need any supplies. I do not have the resources to provide them with these materials.

Parties & Birthdays:

I will occasionally ask for party supplies for special parties and holidays. I will notify you of what your child is responsible for bringing by sending home a note informing you of the party date and item(s) needed. We welcome birthday celebrations in our classroom! If you would like to have a party, please let me know in advance. All party items (plates, napkins, forks, etc.) will need to be supplied.

Star of the Week:

Each week, a different student will be chosen as for our star student. The star is chosen by alphabetical order. At the beginning of the year, I will send a form to fill out and request a picture. This will be filed then used for display when your child is star student. Photos will be returned after your child has been the star.

Conferences:

If I need to conference with you, I will indicate this on your child's weekly behavior report, call you, or write a note. If you wish to conference with me, please call, write a note, or email me to set up an appointment.
