This past Friday our Symphonic (Varsity) Band traveled to Ridgeland high school to be evaluated by The Mississippi High School Activity Association.
At this evaluation there were two test that is required by the MHSAA. The first test is a concert, we have to prepare a concert that consist of professional/college level literature. We perform this concert before a panel of three adjudicators that are from the highest profession in the band world. I am proud to say our band Earned the highest marks in our County, District, and we are among the Elite in our State. The Neshoba Central Band Earned ALL Superior/Advanced in this category.
The second test was Sight Reading. This test consist of performing a work of literature that has musical elements and fundamentals required for 5-A schools. There are three adjudicators that evaluate this test, we have 9 minutes to prepare our Students to perform this work of literature. I am also proud to say our Neshoba Central band passed this test with flying colors they earned ALL Superior/Advance in this category.
With the success of our Superior/Advanced scores in these two categories and along with our Marching Band Superior/Advance score this past fall our band program has earned the highest honor bestowed by the Mississippi High School Activity Association, THE SWEEPSTAKES AWARD!!!!!!!!!
There are only a few bands in our state that earned this award this year, it only comes with the hard work and dedication from our students.

On Saturday our Color Guard competed for the first time in the Mississippi Indoor Association CHAMPIONSHIP. This Championship is recognized by the Mississippi High School Activity Association as the office activity. This group work extremely hard and spent many hours perfecting their skills and talent. I’m proud to report this group placed 3rdand received and bronze medal in the state championship . We are Extremely proud of their accomplishments!!!!!!
