This past Friday our Symphonic (Varsity) Band traveled to Ridgeland high school to be evaluated by The Mississippi High School Activity Association.

At this evaluation there were two test that is required by the MHSAA. The first test  is  a concert, we have to prepare a concert that consist of professional/college level literature.  We perform this  concert before a panel of  three adjudicators  that are  from the highest profession in the band world. I am proud to say our band Earned the highest marks in our County, District, and we are among the Elite in our State. The Neshoba Central Band  Earned ALL Superior/Advanced in this category.

The second test was Sight Reading. This test consist of performing a work of literature that has musical elements and fundamentals required for  5-A schools. There are three adjudicators that evaluate this test, we have 9 minutes to prepare our Students to perform this work of literature.   I am also proud to say our Neshoba Central  band passed this test with flying colors they earned ALL Superior/Advance in this category.

With the success of our Superior/Advanced scores in these two categories and along with our  Marching Band Superior/Advance score  this past fall our band program has earned the highest honor bestowed by the Mississippi High School Activity Association, THE SWEEPSTAKES AWARD!!!!!!!!!

There are only a few bands in our state that earned this award this year, it only comes with the hard work and dedication from our students.
